Glom

Sunday, May 30th, 2004

I've been working lots on glom, my databases-for-the-rest-of-us application, and I'm starting to believe again that it's viable. I had a kind of epiphany - I found a suitable set of user goals to discard so that I could actually target one of the sets of user goals. So, glom will not be able to […]

Radio Hass

Friday, May 28th, 2004

The Bavarian government has just given a broadcast license to a dodgy christian fundamentalist radio station, Radio Horeb. By all accounts they are a nasty fundamentalist shower of bastards - dangerously intolerant of various races, religions, sexualities and life-styles. And the authorities knew this when they made the decision. Stoiber's Bavarian government has a bad […]

importing advogato entries to pyblosxom

Monday, May 24th, 2004

here is a version of Thomas's advogeto script to make it output the advogato entries with filenames in the date format used by pyblosxom's pyfilenamemdate.py plugin. And, because I can't get that plugin to work properly, here is a script to set the date of those files to the date in their filenames. That's useful […]

Election posters 2

Friday, May 21st, 2004

As my fellow Munich blogger, Michael Banck pointed out, this one last year was even better, if you like that kind of thing. I was living in Linz at the time, and I was amazed when I visited Munich at a weekend and saw it.

Testing umlauts in the title - ü, ä, ö

Friday, May 21st, 2004

The planet feed parser has no proble with umlauts in the content, but seems to re-escape the umlauts (standard character entities) in the topic. So, ü looks like ¨.

<p>I moved my blog from <a href="http://www.advogato.orghttp://www.advogato.org/person/murrayc/">advogato</a> to <a href="http://www.murrayc.com/blog">murrayc.com</a>, so that I have more control.

Green party election posters

Thursday, May 20th, 2004

There are lots of election posters up in Munich for the European Election next month. I don't remember ever seeing this many before, certainly not in Britain. The Green Party has the best ones. Here's an amusing example.

Luis, it's a sign of the times that John McCain looks like a moderate to us now. John […]

I moved my blog from advogato to murrayc.com, so that I have more control.

<p><strong>Munich Blogs</strong>

Thursday, May 20th, 2004

I used the planet code to set up munichblogs.com, with an initial random selection of blog feeds. Hopefully there'll be some gradual natural-selection of the bloggers. I plan to add some subculture blogs too - For instance, I'd like to know about any and all blogs for open source developers in Munich.

Feeds seems to be […]

I used the planet code to set up munichblogs.com, with an initial random selection of blog feeds. Hopefully there'll be some natural selection of bloggers over time. I plan to add some subculture blogs under that - For instance, I'd like to know about any and all blogs for open source developers in Munich.
